Bertram A. Yaffe
Bertram Yaffe is the founder and leader of the New England Coalition for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NECON) and the President of the Erna Yaffe Foundation. Mr. Yaffe received his bachelors in public health degree from Emory University and served as Major in the United States Marine Corp. He was decorated with two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his outstanding service. Bert Yaffe has dedicated his career to improving the public’s health, is the author of numerous publications, and the recipient of several awards, including the Rhode Island Dept. of Health Community Partnership Award, the Recognition Award for Dedicated Service to the Massachusetts Public Health Council, the Significant Contribution Award at the Massachusetts Partners in Prevention Convention, and the CDC and ASTDPHE Award for the Advancement of Health Promotion at a Regional Level, among others.

Throughout his career, Mr. Yaffe has served in various capacities (including president, chair, trustee, and member) on numerous boards and organizations including, the Massachusetts Public Health Council, the Advisory Council, Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention, the Nutrition Roundtable, Harvard School of Public Health, the Harvard School of Public Health Leadership Council, The Center for Health Promotion and Environmental Disease Prevention, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Annual Health Institute On Promoting Prevention, the Cardiology Working Group of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Statewide Health Coordinating Council, the Massachusetts Task Force on Prevention, Union-Truesdale (Charlton Memorial) Hospital, Fall River, MA, the Task Force to establish Greater Fall River Comprehensive Health Care Authority, and the Legislative and Public Issues Subcommittee of the Regional Cancer Control Committee among others. He is an active member of the Massachusetts Public Health Association, the New England Public Health Association, and the American Public Health Association.
