Sedentary lifestyle and poor dietary habits are major risk factors for obesity, chronic disease and cancer. Yet only 25% of Americans are sufficiently physically active and many adhere to unhealthy diets leading to epidemic obesity.

Americans average 2.7 physician visits per year, and doctors have the potential to play a paramount role in changing the health behavior of their patients. Numerous barriers impede the integration of lifestyle counseling into clinical practice, such as insufficient knowledge, lack of time, lack of financial incentives, or unavailability of user-friendly counseling tools.

OWCH facilitates a painless approach to lifestyle counseling by providing a comprehensive knowledge base in behavioral counseling through CME training and by providing a user friendly algorithm for the point of care.
